Econintersect Authors: Derryl Hermanutz is an private investor with a background in construction contracting and real estate development in Alberta, Canada. He currently lives in Costa Rica. He has a BA degree in philosophy and political economy from the University of Alberta and has continued to be a self-study student in those fields to this day. For the past 30 years he has studied the history and operations of money and banking. He has become a constant critic of classical economic theory and its current day mainstream heirs (neo-classical and neo-liberal schools) which model macroeconomics as an extension of microeconomic function using barter-like exchange with money and credit that are merely economic lubricants rather than central economic elements. He views the current crisis as a replay of past debt deflation cycles and offers numerous analyses of historical relationships to today's problems. |
